Nurse Refresher Courses
Frequently Asked Questions
Not only do we offer flexible, self-paced learning on a 100% online platform, the Nurse
Refresher Courses were designed to meet the unique needs of nurses who may not be able to
attend courses in person or who would prefer not to commute to a classroom. We offer support
and high-quality experiences that you can’t get in a semester-based course. And our rolling
admissions mean you can begin as soon as you are ready. Instructors are available to help you
successfully reactivate your license and re-join the nursing workforce!
Every month a new cohort begins. Course logins will be issued the second Tuesday of every month. Although each cohort will begin on the same date, students will work independently to complete the program at their own pace. To join the next cohort, registrations and payments must be completed by the last day of the calendar month. For example: April’s cohort enrollment ends on March 31.
The course is designed to be an independent, self-paced program and allows students to complete the course at their own pace within 9 months. Course logins are active for 9 months from the date course logins are provided.
The course is designed to be an independent, self-paced program allowing flexibility. You may request a three-month extension and pay a fee if you need additional time to complete the course.
Students enrolled in our courses have been away from the practice of nursing ranging from 0 years- 20+ years. Nurses who hold inactive, expired, or active licenses are eligible to take
the course. If you have any questions regarding the program requirements, please contact our team at Refresher@ColoradoNursingCenter.org.
Full tuition payment is required prior to enrollment. The Center works with regional Workforce Centers and if eligible, students can connect to their county Workforce Center for financial assistance. Not from Colorado? Check with your state's workforce center to see if you qualify! You may also contact our team at Refesher@ColoradoNursingCenter.org with any questions on the process.
The tuition covers access to our Learning Management System platforms, critical thinking exercises, didactic material, additional resources, and Nurse Refresher Team support for 9 months. Additional costs to students include purchasing a required textbook and costs associated with the clinical prerequisites prior to beginning a clinical practicum.
Our team will support students with finding placement. Students can request help by completing the Clinical Request form which students receive after scheduling the final exam. By completing the form, our team will be able to guide you through the next steps. Students seeking clinical placement outside of Colorado are required to know their Board of Nursing completion requirements. Please contact our team for more information!
Have a facility in mind?
Our team can provide a list of facilities for clinical placement. If the Center does not currently hold an Education Agreement with a specific facility, we will work to create a contract for your rotation. Contact our team with any specific questions.
All students are required to complete at least 120 clinical hours to receive the course Certificate of Completion. Per BON guidance, students have the option to complete all clinical hours in-person, online through our Virtually Simulated Clinical Program, or via a combination of Virtual Simulation (60 hours) and in-person clinicals (60 hours). If your State Board of Nursing
requires more than 120 hours, you will complete the clinical hours required by the Board of Nursing for program completion.
Our Nurse Refresher Team hosts options for you to connect with peers and instructors! Access to our discussion board connects you with other students and staff. We hold weekly office hours to support students during Phase I. We offer students the option to connect by appointment via video conference or phone.
If you fail the final exam and you are interested in retaking the exam, you will need to re-register and pay the course retake fee (50% of current course tuition), and connect with your instructor to develop a success plan.
Our Refresher courses are currently accepted by the Boards of Nursing in Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, Alaska, Oregon, and more. If you are interested in our Refresher
